About Magic-Languages: Our Program, Methodology and Team
Magic Languages started in response to the growing need to learn and master foreign languages in today’s increasingly globalized world. We offer programs in Spanish and French specially designed for children and babies to enhance their capacity for communication in practical ways.
We believe that it is essential to take advantage of early developmental phases to give children the benefit of learning a new language in a fun and natural manner.
The Magic-Languages French and Spanish program is designed for students who want to learn Spanish or French in a fun way, absorbing the artistic, charming and lively culture that comes with the language. Our themes come to life through art, games, crafts and songs. Through these activities, our teachers communicate with the students in the new language in an engaging way so they become capable of understanding and repeating new vocabulary. Our method is designed to make your children feel the need to communicate and interact with the teacher and their peers in their new language.
Magic-Languages is the most fun, dynamic, artistic and culturally rich language class for children and parents. We have developed our own specific methodology through years of observation and research on what children like doing and how they learn at different stages of childhood, cognitively, emotionally and physically. We use the best elements of classical teaching methods and couple them with our knowledge and our love and respect for children, as well as our endless passion for creating a multilingual community.
Our teaching approach will enable students to learn a second language efficiently. In developing our program, we have had several objectives in mind:
- To teach our students to achieve perfect grammatical construction in the new language.
- To teach a variety of age appropriate vocabulary terms according to specific themes.
- To familiarize the students with the culture of the new language. At Magic-Languages, we encourage and foster the interest for the culture associated to the language. We believe that language is a core element of a culture. Based on that, we highlight the learning of those cultural elements that relate to each language. We seek that the children understand and see the practical application and use of the language as a result of this learning process.
- To enhance the communication abilities of the students in the new language.
- To present the learning of the new language in a fun and natural manner so that it is an enjoyable process that encourages the active participation of each student.
We are very happy and proud to have a team of passionate and dedicated teachers who love children and work hard to transmit the language in a fun and interactive way. They help the students absorb the artistic, charming and lively culture that comes with the language.
All our teachers are trained in the Magic-Languages methodology and undergo background checks, including a criminal reference check, prior to beginning work with Magic-Languages.
All our teachers are native Spanish or French speakers.
Beatriz Tejedor is the founder of Magic-Languages. Born and raised in Spain, she received her law degree from the University of Barcelona in 2008. At a very young age, Bea learned the value of being multilingual; in addition to growing up in a bilingual Spanish/Catalan household, she learned French spending her summers in France and English working through her professional career. After practicing law for several years, she moved to Canada, living first in Montreal and then Toronto. Amazed by the diversity in this city, Bea started Magic-Languages in 2013. After several years of teaching Spanish as a second language to adults, Bea realized how fascinating and natural the learning process was with the children. Complemented by her deep family values, Bea discovered a passion for early childhood education. She identifies three important elements in the learning process: a connection with the teacher, a favorable environment and the consistency of the practice.
Magic-Languages’ methodology is rooted in these three basic elements, paired with a thoughtful curriculum. The goal of each and every class is that the children thoroughly enjoy the activities, not realizing how much they are learning and that they are communicating in a new language. Empathy is fundamental in order to accomplish this goal.
Since Magic-Languages started, Beatriz has worked every day in order to develop this educational project through the incorporation of new elements, improving the curriculum and reaching new students. This is part of the greater objective of creating a better understanding of and connection to the global community.
